3 Tips For Creating A Color Palette For Your Office Building

Posted on: 6 January 2021

When it comes to commercial painting, you have plenty of options. For this reason, if you have plans to paint, rather than select a single color to cover the walls of your office building, you should instead choose a color palette. A color palette is a series of coordinated colors that complement one another, while still providing the space with dimension. If you have plans to update the paint in your office building, here are some tips to help you choose a set of colors.

1. Maintenance and Upkeep

Always think about maintenance and upkeep when you make your plans for a color palette. For example, if you operate an office building that has many young visitors, such as a children's health clinic, you will likely see a fingerprint or two on the wall. Going with a palette that incorporates lighter pastel colors, such as lavender and teal, on the walls might make upkeep a chore in this type of environment. A darker color scheme, such as rich reds or blues, might be a better option for masking the stains and minimizing upkeep.

2. Size of Space

The size of the office spaces you plan to paint is also important. For example, if you have multiple small spaces in the building, you may not want to use the same palette for each area. For larger spaces, you may want to select a more subtle palette. A large office with a bold color palette can feel overwhelming and it may even make the space feel smaller than it is. On the other hand, with a smaller space, you have more flexibility. Additionally, for a smaller office that you want to make appear larger, consider choosing a lighter color palette, such as soft yellows or white tones.

3. Building Features

When choosing a color palette for the office, you should also think about the features of the building, such as any woodworking or the flooring. If your building is designed in a more modern style, such as with more metal and glass incorporated into the design, you may want to choose a cooler color combo or a high contrast palette, such as black and white. On the other hand, if the building has a more traditional style, such as with lots of woodworking, a warmer color palette might look better, such as yellows and oranges.

In addition to performing the paint installation for you, a commercial painting professional can also help you with the process of choosing a palette for your space. Do not hesitate to ask any questions you need.
